Family Affirmation Service ®

To offer those we serve who want something different than a traditional funeral, Pray Funeral Home offers the Family Affirmation Service ®. This option, which is an exclusive of Pray Funeral Home, offers a less formal structure to the ceremony along with many opportunities to personalize and affirm the life of the one who has died.

The Family Affirmation Service® is a celebration that a life has been lived and that that life had meaning and value.

A Family Affirmation Service® Can be conducted by family members, a member of the clergy, a close family friend, a master of ceremony, a certified Celebrant, or one of our funeral directors.

A Family Affirmation Service® can be  held in a funeral home, church, park, or the deceased person's favorite place, whether that be  the pond behind the house, their lake property, or even the local fire barns.

To assist family members, we have available the Family Affirmation Service® Handbook that explains the various options and functions that make this service, meaningful and special to those who will be attending.

What does a Family Affirmation Service ® look like?

Here are a few examples:

  •  Barbara "BC" Collinsworth-Johnson's Family Affirmation Service featured a full theatrical production at the Charlotte Performing Arts Center, with eight eulogists, an almuni Choir, a Jazz Quintet, 3 Life Tribute Videos, and even Sparty and the MSU Cheerleaders!  You are welcome to view the short trailer version of the service or the full length service in Barbara's Book of Memories under the Webcast tab.
  •  Grandpa's shovel and hoe were propped up against his home-made wheelbarrow. Fruits and vegetables from his garden were arranged within it along with his signature coveralls. "What a neat tribute toGrandpa," squealed one of his grandkids.

  • A life sized picture of grandpa's wooden fishing boat was hung above the casket. A smaller 2/3 scale model set at the foot with pictures of grandpa fishing with his grandkids on the seats.. you are invited to share your thoughts on a meaningful service on our discussion page

  • The Hog set in the front of the room, It's chrome gleaming under the lights.  You could almost hear the signature roar screaming out of the exhaust pipes as the celebrant recalled how her rider loved to race through the gears on an open country road with the wind in her face.
