| Do I have to pay for a pre-arrangement? |
| No, it is not necessary to pay for your pre-arrangement selections. We often make pre-arrangements that are not funded. We still hold the instructions and selections that an individual has made in our files as a non funded list of preferences for the family members to follow at the time of death. |
|
| What does the funeral home do with funds I pay for my pre-arrangements? |
| A funeral home will place an individual's pre-arrangement funds either in an insurance policy, or an escrow account. The funds are held until such time that the funeral home provides the actual funeral services at the time of death. |
|
| Are pre-arrangement funds refundable? |
| Yes in Michigan pre-arrangement funds are the property of the individual purchaser, not the funeral home or cemetery. If the purchaser requests a refund or wishes to cancel the pre-arrangement, they are entitled to the return of their funds plus the interest that has accrued on the funds. |

| What is an Irrevocable Agreement? |
| An Irrevocable Agreement is actually an Irrevocable Certification of a Pre-arraged Funeral Agreement. The certification states that an individual will not withdraw funds that are deposited for pre-arranged funeral or memorial services. All funds in the agreement must be left in the account until the death of the individual, and are to be used for paying the funeral or memorial costs. An Irrevocable Certification is most often required when a person who has a pre-arrangment agreement needs to apply for medical or income assistance. Any funds in an agreement covered by an Irrevocable Certification will not be counted as assets by most state and federal agencies when determining eligibility for medical or financial assistance. |
|
| How do I complete an Irrevocable Certification? |
| Our Pray Funeral Home Pre-planning specialists can complete the forms that are issued by state or federal assistance case workers. In most cases we complete a certification form at the time we complete a pre-arrangement for an individual. This form is usually held in the individual's file until it may be required. |
