Donald Alan Root
May 17, 1968 - April 27, 2022
Donald “Donny” Alan Root, 53 of Sunfield, a man who loved life, family, and friends, died April 27, 2022 at Sparrow Hospital. He was born in Lansing, Michigan to Donald and Joyce (Bottomley) Root on May 17, 1968, and lived a life full of adventure. A machinist at Roberts Sinto Corporation, Donny knew how to work hard, but was known more for playing hard and being the life of the party. A very smart guy, he loved to laugh and enjoyed a good argument as well. Being outdoors was at the heart of everything Donny enjoyed including, playing in the mud, trail riding, canoeing, golf cart rides, mushroom hunting, bonfires, collecting rocks, hunting, and shooting guns with his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed reading everything, not just books but boxes and instructions, which led to a recent bantering argument with his sister-in-law about feminine products. Donny also collected everything Budweiser, with an extensive collection ranging from t-shirts to steins and everything in-between. Donny is survived by his wife, Susan; fur babies, Jack and Bell; mother, Joyce Root; two sisters; several in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Root; one sister; his grandparents; and his in-laws, Earl and Millie Heintz. Friends are encouraged to support the Root family by attending services or sharing memories on Donny’s Tribute Page at www.prayfuneral.com . Visitation is Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 7-9:00 PM at Pray Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday, May 4, 11:00 AM at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
