Frances Carpenter

June 25, 1931 - June 5, 2020

Frances "Fran" Carpenter, 88, of Potterville, died peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2020. Fran was born June 25, 1931 in Charlotte, the daughter of Leone and Zella Katherine (Williams) Loveland. She graduated from Charlotte High School before marrying her life-long love, Edwin Dee Carpenter on July 14, 1952. In her younger years, she always baked every weekend and was very involved in helping her husband coach the church softball team. She was secretary/treasurer for the church, a position in which she took great pride. Fran first worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell, and notably was the key operator in saving a woman's life. As a career, Fran served as an Administrative Tech for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, from which she retired. She also enjoyed sewing, ceramics, puzzles and puzzle books, and dominos with Ed. Above all, Fran loved her family. Fran is survived by her children, Jeff (Sandy) Carpenter, Donnis Eshelman, Denise Wilson, and Jenella (TJ) Smith; daughter-in-law, Kathy Carpenter; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ed in 2019; son, Greg Carpenter in 2014. Friends are encouraged to support Fran's family with multiple options for doing so. Visitation at Pray Funeral Home, limited to 10 people at a time, will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A special drive-through visitation will be available from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the funeral home. Visitors will be directed through a car-line to share condolences with the family and pay respects to Fran, without needed to leave their car. Private Interment will take place at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Mulliken, although friends are invited to view the graveside via webcast by visiting www.prayfuneral.com, click on Fran's tribute, and then click on Photos and Videos from your computer (or Media from your smart phone). Just prior to the beginning of the service, a link will appear on this page to watch the webcast. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to the family or Hospice of Lansing. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
