Harold Wallace Nelson

June 14, 1921 - March 8, 2022

Harold Wallace Nelson one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, died March 8, 2022 in Charlotte at the age of 100. Harold was born June 14, 1921 in Ypsilanti, North Dakota to Walter and Mable (Riley) Nelson. Harold served in the US Army during World War II in the Philippines. After returning home he married Marion Owens and they spent their lives together until her passing 1992. Nelson and Marion had an affection for ducks and geese. Their home was filled with many feathered pets over the years. Harold worked at Fisher Body in Lansing in the water treatment department for many years. He was literally the last employee at the Fisher Body plant, maintaining and treating the water quality as the building was decommissioned. The day the plant was finally shut down was the day he retired. His friends and coworkers said that Harold loved his job so much that they had to tear down the plant to get him to retire. Harold was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall in Charlotte for over 30 years. He worked diligently to spread the Word to all he knew. Harold is survived by one sister Dorothy Macomber and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Marion; sisters Margaret Marks, and Adline; brothers Gordon and Robert Nelson. Visitation is Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday March 17th with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Elder Jeff Teachout officiating.
