March 30, 1954 - May 29, 2019
Joseph S. Stachnik Jr. of Charlotte, a very kind and gentle man who freely gave of his time to support his friends and community, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the age of 65. He was born March 30, 1954 in Tecumseh, MI, one of 8 children of Joseph and Dorothy (LaTouralle) Stachnik Sr. Graduating from Clinton High School in 1972, Joe went on to study at MSU where he earned a degree in Agricultural Science in 1978 and was a lifelong MSU fan. In April of 1979, he married LuAnn Wheaton and enjoyed farming in Onondaga at the large Byrum farms, working with swine and farming 2,000 acres. After that he was a salesman of farm equipment at Hamilton Distributing. While Joe always enjoyed farming, he decided to become a financial planner and was very proud when he earned his Certified Financial Planner certification, starting with IDS as a junior partner with Chuck Gulliver. Then IDS became American Express Financial and today is Ameriprise Financial Services where he worked for a combined 33 years. Many of his clients will remember Joe as a conscientious and loyal advisor and friend. Joe was very involved in the Charlotte community, participating in many clubs and organizations over the years. Some of the organizations Joe was involved with included: Chamber of Commerce Treasurer for many years; member and Past-President of the Kiwanis Club of Charlotte; Kiwani-Homes President and Board Member; CAN DO!; Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital Development Council Member; St. Mary Church Finance Council; and 4-H supporter extraordinaire. Many 4-H members over the years benefited from Joe’s experience with farming and animals, and he was even known to house their hogs in his barn a few times when the family didn’t have a barn to do so themselves. Always giving, Joe was a friend to many and very loyal to his family, while still giving to support his community. Joe is survived by his wife of 40 years, LuAnn; siblings, Carole (John) Schneider, Cathy (Wally) Kotlarczyk, Charlene (Dennis Hollis) Stachnik, John (Pam) Stachnik, Andrea (Steve) Warner, Jim Stachnik; brothers and sisters-in-law Leland and Denise Wheaton, Barry and Linda Stuart; and many beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Cross; and his parents. Friends are encouraged to support Joe’s family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 3, 2019, 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop officiating. Visitation is Sunday, June 2, 2-6:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 2:00 PM at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to Kiwanis Club of Charlotte. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Joe on his Tribute Page at www.PrayFuneral.com. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
