“Your funeral home did a beautiful service for my husband. Thank you. I had family members come up and say it was the best service they ever attended. Most importantly, I know it was something that would make my husband smile down from Heaven. Thank you again for caring for my husband.” Cindy Harke Dockey

Russian Tea Party
06:00 pm - 08:00 pm
Experience the Elegance and Tradition of a Russian Tea Party at Pray Funeral Home Step into a world of rich traditions, warm hospitality, and fascinating storytelling as Pray Funeral Home proudly presents an enchanting Russian Tea Party on April 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM. This one-of-a-kind event, hosted at Pray Funeral Home, invites you to immerse yourself in the elaborate customs of Russian tea culture while gaining a deeper understanding of the country’s unique funeral traditions. A Passionate Guide to Russian Culture Leading this cultural journey is Inna Phelps, a vibrant member of the Charlotte community for over 20 years. Originally from Russia, Inna immigrated to the United States in 2000 and has since built a deep connection to the local area. Many may recognize her as a talented hairdresser, a dedicated paraprofessional in local schools, or a passionate storyteller and performer. She has previously curated a Russian room at the Courthouse Square Museum, hosted Russian tea parties, and performed at various local venues. Now, she brings her love for Russian heritage to Pray Funeral Home in a truly special way. An Evening of Tradition, Tea, and Treats A Russian tea party is no ordinary gathering—it is a celebration of elegance, connection, and tradition. Attendees will experience: Traditional Russian tea service, complete with a samovar, a beautifully ornate Russian tea urn that symbolizes hospitality. A delightful selection of authentic hors d’oeuvres and sweets, including the famous Napoleon cake and Sharlotka apple pie—a charming coincidence, given its name and our city, Charlotte. A stunning display of Russian nesting dolls and cultural souvenirs, offering a glimpse into the country’s artistry and heritage. Exploring Russian Funeral Traditions While the evening will be filled with warmth and camaraderie, it also presents a unique opportunity to explore Russian funeral customs, which differ strikingly from Western traditions. This event is the first in a planned series at Pray Funeral Home, showcasing funeral traditions from around the world. Inna and Joe Pray have long envisioned bringing these cultural storytelling experiences to the community, and now, that vision is becoming reality. Join Us for an Unforgettable Experience Whether you are drawn to the rich flavors of Russian tea, the beauty of cultural traditions, or the fascinating contrasts of global funeral customs, this event promises something truly special. Don’t miss this opportunity to gather in fellowship and learning, embracing a culture that has captivated hearts for centuries. Seating is limited, so be sure to mark your calendar for April 24 at 6:00 PM at Pray Funeral Home! For more information or to RSVP, please contact Pray Funeral Home.
