February 12, 1935 - December 15, 2018
Lincoln Gorsuch, 83, of Crystal, formerly of Dimondale, died peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Alma. Lincoln was born February 12, 1935 in Wauseon, OH, the son of Clarence Henry and Orlena (Bailey) Gorsuch. He graduated from Morenci High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving two years. Following his service, he graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy, starting as a Trooper in 1962. During his 10 years as a trooper, he concurrently attended Adrian College and earned his bachelor degree. He later established himself as a forensic specialist and went on to a prominent career, serving an additional 15 years as a detective in the crime lab, retiring in 1987. Lincoln was a member of the Lion's Club, MSP Troopers Association, and provided training to the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, as well as providing expert witness services on countless occasions. After retirement, he operated as a private investigator. With his children and his late wife, Marlene Reppert, he enjoyed raising and showing buckskin and quarter horses at the Eaton County 4H Fair and across the country. Lincoln married Mary Jo Twitchell on July 9, 1983, and the two lived on Thornapple Lake. Many will remember Lincoln for his keen sense of humor, his love of animals, and his genuine ability to be "down to Earth." He possessed a natural musical talent, always carrying a harmonica, and playing the piano by ear into his final days. Above all, he loved his family. Lincoln is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Jo; daughters, Julie (Douglas) Anderson, Joy Gorsuch, and Jennifer (Eric) Lison; step-children, Kurt (Lana) Hauffe and Dawn Steffes; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Margy) Gorsuch. He was predeceased by two infant daughters, Jerolyn Sue Gorsuch and Twila Jane Gorsuch; siblings, Darrell Gorsuch, Jane Wills, Neva Vanlerberg, Donna Jones, and Gaylen Gorsuch. Friends are encouraged to support Lincoln's family at visitation and funeral services. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Pray Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci, MI.
